The City of Bath Male Choir/ Bath Male Choir - The City of Bath Male Choir was founded in February 2006 by Grenville Jones. The Mayor of the City is the Choir Patron. This is a Choir that makes a BIG sound and has a huge reputation. You may have been one of the millions of TV viewers who saw them on the BBC’s Last Choir Standing reality TV show. Bath Male Choir reached 5th place. Since that time the BBC series has been shown around the world.

2011 was another busy BMC year. Bath Male Choir visted France and also raised many thousands of pounds for charities. These included Help for Heroes, The Dorothy House Hospice, The Prostate Cancer Charity, The National Osteoporosis Society and others.

The Choir now totals over 80 singers, the 'Wall of Sound' is getting bigger and bigger! Grenville has proved that, contrary to public belief, MEN DO SING and is always trying to encourage younger men to take up, “The best hobby in the world!”

Bath Male Choir meet onTuesdays at Culverhay School Hall. It is accesible to all and has a large car park.

Grenville auditions all new members for Bath Male Choir. This is a straight forward one to one voice test. New members are welcome to attend a rehearsal to discover more about BMC, if they then apply to join, the audition is arranged with them by Grenville.

The Bath Chorus - This is a auditioned mixed-voice choir of around 70 voices that rehearses on Monday evenings at St Bart’s Church above Oldfield Park. The Chorus include many young singers and music students. It was started by Grenville in January 2009 after he decided to part company with the Silver Ring Choir, who he had led very successfully for 12 years.

The Chorus repertoire is varied – from beautiful folk song arrangements by Bob Chilcott through to some standard choral favourites. The Chorus perform from music, this is the deliberate choice of Grenville as it gives this choir a vast potential to choose from. For example, Parry’s wonderful I was Glad, performed in Bath Abbey with the RAF Central Band, to John Rutter’s lovely Nativity Carol, one of the items sang to an audience of over 1200 at G’s 2011 Christmas Concert in the Bath Forum with guest Rhydian Roberts.

There is a strong social side to the Chorus as you will see from the website. Grenville auditions all new members. This is a straight forward one to one voice test. New members are welcome to attend a rehearsal to discover more about the Bath Chorus, if they then apply to join, the audition is arranged with them by Grenville.

The Fabulous Stockingtops - This is Grenville Jones’s all-singing and dancing group of ladies. The Fabulous Stockingtops are NOT a choir, definitely not a ladies barbershop group, something quite unique in fact ! The group has been together since Grenville was part of the Last Choir Standing show when he met a group of girls from Chester called Handbags of Harmony and decided to start a group for girls who like some swing with their sing ! They are pictured above with members of Bath Rugby, on stage at the Bath Christmas Lights switch-on.

There are 40 auditioned Stockingtops who rehearse on Saturday mornings at Culverhay School Hall. The group is always in demand and can perform as a smaller group if required at weddings or for special occasions. The repertoire is as you would  expect, fun and frivolous! From All that Jazz ( I’m gonna roll my stockings down) It don’t Mean a Thing to up tempo 60s favourites such as the Shoop Shoop Song.
