GOLDEN-OLDIES CHARITY
Goldies (as it is more commonly known) is a charity which Grenville set up in 2007 when he took the first daytime singing and activity sessions in sheltered housing community rooms in and around Bath. Unlike Grenville’s other work, Goldies is NOT about choir singing but sing-alongs to the popular memory-evoking hits of the 50s onwards solely for the purpose of putting a smile on the face and lifting spirits.
Goldies recognises the issues of loneliness amongst the increasing older population. It gives vulnerable people a REASON to get out, to be with others, laugh, sing out, and to make new friends.
In England there are now over 100 monthly Goldies ‘Sing & Smile’ sessions taking place across B&NES, Bristol, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, East London, Essex, Gloucestershire, Mendip, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, South Somerset, Staffordshire, Suffolk, Swindon, Wiltshire and Yorkshire.
Grenville also opened a Goldies charity shop in the town of Keynsham in March 2016 to help raise funds for the charity.
In 2023 Grenville received a Points of Light award from the Prime Minister's Office for his work with Goldies.

Points of Light Award
Grenville's work with his Goldies Charity was again recognised when he received a Points of Light Award from the Prime Minister in January 2024.
In a letter sent to Grenville from Downing Street from the Prime Minister the final paragraph said:
You have been a golden point of light and joy for so many others who share in your love of music. So I am delighted to be able to recognise you as the UK's 2217th Point of Light.
Thank you and congratulations.
