Wednesday 2nd March 2016 A new Bristol afternoon choir is being launched in April at Henleaze. Bath’s Mr Music, Grenville Jones, has a reputation for getting hundreds of people singing. He is launching a new daytime no-audition fun community choir for retired people in Henleaze on April 4 called the Bristol Good Afternoon Choir. Grenville leads a number of music projects across the West and beyond. He is also founder of the Goldies charity, NOT choirs but with 150 daytime sing and smile social sessions in community rooms and church halls now across the West of England, Essex, Hants, Staffs Yorkshire and South Wales. The Good Afternoon Choirs are one of his hugely successful choir projects with 250 singers in the Bath and Devizes weekly groups. The Bristol Good Afternoon Choir will meet at Trinity Henleaze United Reformed Church on Mondays from 2-4pm and everyone is welcome to go along and find out all about the choir. The Keynsham Good Afternoon Choir also starts this month with the first rehearsal at Keynsham Methodist Church from 2pm until 4pm on Wednesday March 16. Says Grenville: “We sing all sorts of music – from folk songs and spirituals to Abba and Queen. It’s all about having fun, making new friends and enjoyment.” Ben England is conductor of the new choir. He studied music at the University of Bristol, specialising in conducting and choral music. He is a singer, pianist and guitarist who is in demand as a soloist across the South West. Ben has led choirs and singing groups in and around Bristol for over 20 years, and has worked with groups of all sizes and all ages. An Advanced Skills Teacher, Ben was until 2016 Director of Music at Colston’s Girls’ School. He is also the Musical Director of the Bristol Gilbert and Sullivan Society. Interested in Monday 2-4pm choir, I have just. moved to Henleaze? I do not read music , I am a alto, and would like more information.Thanks Pat
