Music man Grenville Jones will be raising money this year to support the work of the Bath branch of Parkinson’s UK. Grenville leads a number of choirs in the area and last year his singers helped to raise over £14,000 for local charities. An open day at Oldfield Park Baptist Church raised nearly £2,000 for Nepal’s earthquake appeal and his support of the National Osteoporosis Society’s Christmas concert in November raised over £7,000 for that organisation.

Grenville’s chosen local appeal for 2015 was the Three Ways School Teacup Appeal and concerts in Bath Abbey and other local churches raised over £4,000. Over in Devizes Grenville’s hugely popular Good Afternoon Choir also raised £1,000 for Wiltshire charities in 2015 through their concerts.

Grenville said;

“I want to support the Bath branch of Parkinson’s this year as I have been invited to speak at their Saturday morning group on a couple of occasions. I feel it is very important that smaller local organisations are helped with their fundraising to reach out to local people and I hope to raise a decent amount for them at a number of concerts during the year.”

Grenville’s first concert for Parkinson’s will be on Saturday March 19 at St Swithin’s Church where Grenville’s celebrated Bath Male Choir will perform with special guests, the Malmesbury Community Choir. The second concert will be will be at St Michael’s Church, Bath, on Good Friday, March 25, featuring his Bath Chorus choir.

Theirs is a family link to this concert as Grenville’s son Laurie conducts the Malmesbury Choir. There will be no admission charge for either of these concerts with a retiring collection for Bath’s branch of Parkinson’s.
