A special day of song will take place at Westbury Methodist Church on Saturday June 14. It doubles as choral workshop aimed at people who have never sung in a choir before and is led by one of the UK's leading musicians Grenville Jones. Grenville has appeared on radio and TV across the world. He is founder of the Goldies UK charity that runs its daytime singing sessions for older people across Wiltshire. He has worked on BBC Children in Need conducting youth choirs with Gareth Malone and has been seen by millions on Last Choir Standing through his leadership of the famous Bath Male Choir. He is founder conductor of the 120 strong Devizes Good Afternoon Choir and five other West Country choirs. He received an honorary degree for his music work in the community two years ago from Bath Spa University. Grenville will lead the Come and Sing workshop in the afternoon from 2 -5pm and stresses that the afternoon session is for everyone of all ages: “If you would like to know what’s it like to sing in a choir then this fun workshop is for you,” says Grenville who conducted the BBC Radio Wiltshire community choir two years ago. The Bath Male Choir will be guests at the evening concert when the workshop singers will also perform. On Saturday June 5 Bath Male Choir are guests at the Bath Abbey Mayor making when TV celebrity cook Mary Berry will receive the Freedom of the City.
